Cycling
A quick entry, but two bike related things:
- Almost got hit by a car, whose driver decided not to slow down when joining a roundabout, so i had to pull hard on my brakes, so as not to go into the car.
- Overtook a moped, on the flat, oh dear, shame on you, though your bike was running too lean.

That's happened to me far too often. I now expect it at every roundabout and prepare accordingly. Only when it is obvious that the car is going to stop do I stop hovering over the brakes. Always try to make eye contact with the driver – if they're not looking at you, they might not have seen you. And watch the wheels of the car, not the body. It is much easier to see changes in speed by looking at the rotation of the wheels.
And if you are expecting it, you have plenty of time to deal with it – no emergency stops, no drama. Then again, deliberately over dramatising it a little might make the driver more careful next time (joke:-)
