What Maurice told me about the problems of love and life?
The trouble with understanding others is that their thoughts are neither 100% private or 100% explicit. You can think you know what someone is thinking but you can never be sure. There is an ambiguity there that needs resolving.
The touched and the touching meet as 2 but are apart of the same thing. And so in love one navigates the desert between the private and the explicit, between the touched and the touching.
It is in this that the pleasure and pain of life are rolled into one.
