I’m quite keen on looking after the environment, I recycle at home and work, have energy saving appliances etc. and in the back of my mind I’m always thinking of how to cut down on driving to work. I’ve already got a small econimical car and plan to get an even smaller car when my current one gives up the ghost. I’ve thought about cycling but I have to negogiate windy country lanes with school buses, tractors and big 4X4s taking up too much of the road and I’m not the most confident cyclist so that’s out the window.
My best plan to date is car sharing. I have signed up to a car sharing website, leaving my details etc. but no-one has ever got back to me and that must be well over 8 months ago now. So my next step is to accost the cars that I see driving the same way as me and ask them if they want to car share. There are however a couple of flaws in this plan. One, I never see the same car twice. Two, they all turn off just before the University (I would walk the remainder of the way). Three, they might think I’m a complete lunatic if I go bounding up to them in the car park, which is unlikely to make them want to share car journeys with me.
Maybe I should just practice cycling…
