Understanding Learning

Over the past few years I have found that understanding is really one of the keys to remembering and learning. I find that rote learning is ineffective for me as I "just can remember everything" when it has no context. Large amounts of complex information must have a context for me, so reading around subjects and broadening my study help to put everying in its place and therefore remember. I'll just have to put this into practice!
