Revenge of the Sith ROCKS!
31 May 2005, 18:26
Take your mindless rubbish elsewhere please
31 May 2005, 18:59
As Chris Morris would say… (and more)
You suck, you're wrong, and you're a grotesquely ugly freak.
31 May 2005, 21:14
However I'm not wrong. I really don't get it – what was so likeable about the film that everyone has been crawling over each other to kiss George "I-get-taxed-too-much-so-I'll-make-a-poorly-disguised-movie-about-it" Lucas' ass?

It was a good, enjoyable film.

Oh, and since Maddox thought it was crap that means all the cool kids now think it's rubbish, of course
01 Jun 2005, 00:40
I can form my own opinion without the need for Maddox or anyone else to tell me what to think, thank you very much. What it lacked was a good script, good direction, good acting and above all a soul. Did you care about any of the characters? I didn't. It was mindless and uninvolving. Saying that it was better than 1 and 2 (which it was) is not praise either, because 1 and 2 were only marginally better than having your fingernails pulled out with pliers.
Just in case any of this happens to mirror it, I haven't read the Maddox review yet.
01 Jun 2005, 00:50
After reading the Maddox review I have to say that I agree with it entirely – he says everything I want to about the film in a way I sadly can't – when I get angry about stuff like this my powers of communication tend to fade and my sentences often degenerate into angry grunting sounds. Thank you Maddox, for explaining to the world why this film is no good. Oh, except that you forgot about the "love" scenes, but VGCats covered that so it's all good.
01 Jun 2005, 00:58
Maddox's review was nothing better than a pile of shite, testemony to what his website has become now that he has nothing left to care about anymore and therefore nothing to actually make informed opinions about. When he was calling Christopher Reeve a tosser for not caring about "cripples" until he was paralysed himself, that showed a real point and a real direction. Of course you're perfectly entitled to having your own opinion, as am I, and I thoroughly enjoyed the film, as did pretty much everyone I know.

Who is Maddox?
01 Jun 2005, 08:48
Anyone who thinks that film was good after watching Darth Vader scream Nooooooooooo at the sky, or watch R2 change into some sort of freakish, flying killing machine, does not deserve to have an opinion on anything.
'I think you're blinded by love'
'No you're blinded by love'
'No you're blinded by love'

p.s. Using Chris Morris quotes to defend this monstrosity is like using silk sheets to wipe your ass. Please refrain from doing this in future.

I'm sorry, I didn't realise that two points in the film made it a terrible film. Of course there were things that sucked, the "noooooooooooooo" thing was, quite frankly, hilarious, and the whole R2D2 flying thing has already been covered by the "Ep2 Was Shit!" posse. You haven't bought up quite how annoying Natalie Portman is, yet, either, to the point when Vader was choking her, I was well chuffed.
I would, of course, use silk sheets to wipe my ass if they were available. Wouldn't you, Mr Anonymous-because-I'm-scared-of-using-my-real-name?
01 Jun 2005, 12:26
Actually, Natalie Portman is a very fine actress (and I'm talking about talent-wise) as Leon, Garden State, and even Closer (which I despise for being a film about just about the most horrible people imaginable) clearly show.
Any writer or director who can reduce her and Ewan McGregor to the awful, wooden performances that we've seen in Episodes 1, 2 and 3 quite frankly needs to be locked away unti they realise how bad they actually are. Now…who wrote and directed those 3 films? Oh! It was George Lucas – what a suprise. Please note that the two really GOOD Star Wars films where NOT directed by him, nor were their screenplays written by him. Similarly for the Indiana Jones films, which actually I don't think much of anyway.
Whoever is commenting under the name George Lucas: I thank you for your support but in future please use your real name – this way it looks like you have something to hide when actually you are making perfect sense and should not be in any way ashamed to do so.

I agree Natalie Portman is a fine actor, of course it was the script that made you want to kill the bitch in the movie. But I enjoyed the movie immensely, maybe I just get lost in the mythology of it all a lot easier, I'm not sure, but I just couldn't help but love it. I shouted in glee when Tarkin appeared and was smiling heavily at the dual suns over Tatooine… Maybe that's why :)
02 Jun 2005, 01:25
I think the ending was a cynical ploy. The scene on Tatooine with Owen standing in front of the sunset in exactly the same way Luke does in New Hope even made me smile for a second, until I realised that the reason for this was that it was emotional mugging of anyone who liked the originals. It's basically Mr Lucas saying "I've made a crap film, but look at this and remember the better ones. Now go and buy them on DVD, you impressionable fools".
02 Jun 2005, 01:38
I just tend to be someone who can sit down, watch a film and enjoy it, I guess. I'm not saying it's a bad thing to say "yeah, that's crap acting" or "he's so wooden" or whatever, I just don't tend to see those kind of things when I watch a film. I see a film with a wonderful mythology and story, and that's what makes a film good for me
