Life Goes On
Just about.
Been back here almost a week now. My homecoming present from London was some lovely gift-wrapped polluted air, resulting in hayfever and a rather un-fetching outbreak of spots. God I hate this place.
My follow-up present was a return to the ever-present Dial-up Connection From Hell. NTHell to be precise. And despite the fact that NTL are currently offering 1Mb broadband (with free setup) for less than we pay for unlimited dialup at the moment, my dad refuses to take them up on this offer because of the "hassle" of sorting out cabling around the house, or the price of setting up wireless. I don't understand. How is it that every other household in the developed world can set up a broadband connection without these problems, despite the occupants of said households being, on the whole, less knowledgable about computers than he is? It drives me insane.
As a result I have had to suspend all work on turning my website into a blog. It does exist at the moment, but there are all sorts of broken links and layout errors that need fixing before it is Released. So for now I'm still here. If anyone knows how view php webpages without connecting to the internet, please let me know.
I haven't said anything here during the last week because, well, there hasn't been anything to say. Wimbledon is fun, and I've pretty much been watching it on TV, playing Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, and generally not doing anything about sorting my Life out.
Except that I just applied for a job at Warwick next year. Chances of success: minimal. But you have to start somewhere, right?
