Thursday Indoor

Ah British weather, don’t you just love it… I’ve been indoor today, So i have no complains. My head is a aching a bit now after I attempted to update my progress report. A complete change from the last one. Had to rearrange my arguments, chapters and sections. I had to scrap one whole chapter as it turns out to be rather irrelevant now that I have a complete new set of findings. I really pray that these findings are novel and I pray for more new knowledge discoveries and breakthoughs! My review is in July (I think). I hope to complete the report by 8th June. I should email Kevin the final copy before I head of to London enroute to Dublin on Monday 11th. All in God’s hands!!

It is Gawai day in Kuching (Malaysia) tomorrow. It’s like a harvest festival. Have to give it a miss but I’ll have a nite out with mates tomorrow nite. Dinner then RnB nite at the union. Then I will be off to Amsterdam on Sunday for a few days. Will be back on 5th eve in time for the PhD conference on 6th. I pray that the weather will be lovely and my flights will not be delayed!!!!

More things to do:

1. more data collections and visual snapshots
2. CofG
3. Non-linear elasticity
4. E extraction and homogeneity
5. Incision
6. Case study

All in God’s hands, in Jesus’ name. Amen!

Lethalgy and headache

Serve me right for retiring to bed at 3 this morning and was overly confident that I didn’t need a duvet. Woke up at 8 am and went back to bed. Got up at about 10 and I felt poorly. But i soldiered on with my presentation slides. I seemed to be divinely inspired to do the work I’ve planned for next Tuesday. Completed about 70% of it and now I’ve got this annoying headache. It’s nearly 3 pm and I need lunch! A couple of chicken nuggets are baking in the oven as we speak. God, give me strength!!!!

Off to my officemate’s band’s gig tonite at Barfly, Birmingham. Should be fun. I’ve asked Naomi to accompany me.

Anyways, I’m still in my dressing gown feeling rather unfit!!!

Praise Report

About 4 days since I last tried the 3D def and failed. But I thank God for giving me a breakthough. I believe it is quite novel but I shall do more experiments. God inspired me to come out with an idea for my centre of gravity problem. Amen!!!!!! More things to attempt!

What else need to be done by end of June:
i) texture and E test
ii) breast border
iii) CofG
iv) Progress report for annual review (will add findings to date)
v) read and plan for incision

Plan for next 2 weeks:
Tues + Wed: Presentation Slides
Thurs: Document current findings (Volume preservation)
Friday: Complete report (write paper version)
Sat: Prepare for presentation + Reading
Sun-Tues: Amsterdam (Sister+hubby)- Gawai!!!
Wed: PhD Conference + French
Thurs: Reading + Edit progress report
Frid: Read + Progress report
Sat-Sun: Rest + Church

I commit all these to God in Jesus’ name. Amen!!!

“In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.” Proverbs 16:9

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jer. 29: 11-13.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6.

3D Local and Global Deformation

Global deformation doesn’t seem to work when pushing or pulling interaction is imposed on the surface. Existing papers suggested that global deformation refers to twisting and bending tests. Pushing and pulling are considered local as the area of interaction has a smaller radius. So I think despite the problem I’ve got today with my global deformation I shall use the existing test frameworks as references.

All in God’s time!!! Amen

Lost momentum

A bit downhearted this week. Lost my momentum and I’m not doing any work today. Did some work the past few days. Submitted another paper to a conference. I don’t put high hope in it. I just want to get the review so I can improve my work. But who knows, God might bless me with this one. If it gets accepted, all glory to God. Yesterday, I wrote an algorithm for my next experiment. Am thinking of looking at the local + global deformation of my model. I have combined different weighted constraints and I do pray that the algorithm will be successful. All in God’s hands. But for today, I shall pack my bag and head off to my mate’s in Birmingham. Another break :)

More things to do next week:
i) 3D local and global
ii) E extraction
iii) Homogeneity and timestep
iv) texture test
v) more volume test

Commit all these to God in Jesus’ name!! Amen!!!

Picnic last weekend

Picnic 05May 3Last Sat was great, the sun was out and my church mates and I went to the Memorial park and played footie. It was a lot of fun until i reached home that evening. I had to soak my aching limbs in the bath tub for nearly an hour!!!!!! PICS

Plan and re–plan

OK this must be my gazillionth plan in the past 2 years:

Friday 11/5: Complete experiment and analysis findings. Employ stdev, dev, displ, visual comparisons
i) RT ii) HT iii)VT

Sat 12/5: Create descriptive data visualisation for the findings. Include the graphs in paper
i) stdev analysis: RT, HT, VT ii) displ example iii) texture example

Sunday: Church Hurrahhhhhhhh!!!!!

Monday 14/5: Explore texture and finalise data analysis (test other models)
Tues 15/5: Complete Paper – Submit
Wed 16/5: Explore global def
Thurs 17/5: WMG Demo + combine existing programs and test
Frid 18/5: Read Literature

Sat +Sun: Rest and Church!!!

June 3rd, I’ll meet my sister in Amsterdam!! Hurrah a good 2-day break for me as I’ve got to present at the PhD conference on 6th June!!! Bad timing! I could have stayed with my sis longer. Ah well 3-5 June will be a great break.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And all the peace of God which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus… Phil 4:6-7

Back on track

God has been teaching me to trust in Him more these past few weeks. I’ve said a prayer on praising Him rain or shine… and things went wrong. God reminded me on my prayer and yes, its a wake up call. It’s easier to feel grateful when things are going well but the real test is when things are falling apart. But God is a faithful God. He will never put those who trust in Him to shame. I’m still learning to trust Him more and stop rationalising the way God is going to work. I shall not try to Trace His Hands but I shall Trust His Heart instead. His ways and plans are beyond and above my understanding. He knows what’s best for me and His timing is always right. All glory to Him!!!

I thank God for helping me with my research. I managed to experiment the refined methods based on the design I came up with last week. I’m sure it was 100% due to divine interventions. And today it worked wonderfully. Managed to get better results and I pray that God will continue to guide me. Trust trust and trust!!! I can’t do it without His help. So all glory to Him!!!!!

Third year

My third year starts on May day!!! 1st of May it was. Not a good start I must admit. Reviews on my last paper were a big blow to my confidence. I’m glad for quite a detail review. I can pick up some tips on how to improve my work. But I can’t deny that I was rather shaken. Felt so down for about 5-10 minutes. Prayed about it and I felt at peace after! Such a good wake up call! It makes having faith more real. Blessed is he who makes the Lord his trust! And that is exactly what I’m going to do. If not I’ll lose my sanity over my research. Seriously, PhD iis such a challenging thing to do! Ah well I shall not dwell.. I should move on and commit everything to God!! All in His hands. Amen.

Non–linear method

Attempted non-linear approach to my deformation yesterday. There are a few set of equations from different literatures that interest me:

if (elastic(x,y)>yield) plastic=plastic(x,y)+creep.elastic(x,y);

restposition= restposition+(offset*plasticity)

I assume offset is the length displacement (currentlength – restlength)
