White lies?

When does lying become wrong?

Almost all parents tell their children the story of Santa Claus and how he brings them their presents at Christmas. An enjoyable fable that brings children joy? Or is it a problem that they might be crestfallen when their parents reveal the truth?

When I was working for a year at a high school before I came to Uni children used to swear blind that they hadn't done things they had just seen me watch them do. This was an alarmingly regular occurrence. Is lying becoming more frequent nowadays? And if so, why?

Simple solutin with children in school, when they lie to you give them a detention and ask them to write you an essay about the nature of truth. If they complain again double the time of it in order to help them produce a better essay.

i always hated teachers who suggested that. In fact, pretty much anyone who thought that was amusing-

You might hate them but it does make you shut up though, either that or spend some time thinking!!!!

As much as I sometimes disagree with Justin's ideas about schooling, or at least think that they just wouldn't work in some comprehensive schools in their current state, I do agree with him to a certain extent on this issue. The main problem with kids today is that they're just not taught what is right and wrong. They don't think it's a problem to swear at and lie to teachers because they are allowed to do the same to their parents and to the majority of people they've come into contact wiht during their formative years. If they were made think about their opinions on such subjects they just might realise that their behaviour is unacceptable.
