KBAM reflection

When we were shearing ideas about our presentation, I didn’t know which part I need to discover. But because of the teamwork engagement, I find it easier when I asked my leader and my team members. This is what can happen to me in future work if I have difficulty of where I need to start searching. Moreover, I benefit from sharing ideas, I was reading about knowledge and I had quick summary about asset management from my team members, which save me time and effort. The main point I found that many real business focus on tangible assets more than people knowledge, for example, bay machine, find location then hire people and start producing. Even when I did interviews in research center in my country the people focused in technical areas. The question that I think about if everything starts from people as decisions, why they don’t focus from the first thing, which is the decision quality from good people knowledge. Also, how to measure the knowledge and provide proper knowledge audit? If organisations develop knowledge strategy, they have to use their assets properly or they may improve their assets to meet future expectation.

However, communication channels are important to create organisational culture with more valuable interaction. Therefore, good organisational culture shapes people knowledge and helps to build sustainable business. Moreover, this culture with healthy workplace environment can motivate people to do more than normal work. Also, it could provide intrinsic reward such belonging; self-esteem, sheared responsibilities and goals.

I used to practice this culture in WMG and in my future I would keep work in similar culture because I like it. Or if I couldn’t find my organisation work in this environment, I would try to introduce the idea and it may be acceptable as it is more suitable with human being aspects. It also encourages innovation and creativity that many stakeholders will like.

Interaction leads to KM and learning organisation

Refection

I got my notebook and my pen in first KBAM lecture; I forgot that as usual Paul has different style for delivering information. In the end of the lecture I found myself with blank paper! We need to search for everything, same as real organization task.

I didn’t only learn about KM and AM, but I learn how real work looks like in successful organizations.

I been motivated by this Module because it’s the last module, meet classmates and gain new valuable knowledge that can help my future progress.

I’m being familiar with democratic practises such as leadership and team selection, delegation and dividing parts of the task. Managing team is not easy, but in our class its easier because we help each other. I was thinking that I need to read everything, but we decided to divide our team for two parts, Knowledge management and asset management. This makes me focus more in one part that helps my understanding to the subject. I wasn’t known what is knowledge management, but after start reading I enjoyed it where there are many argument such as the different views of tacit and explicit knowledge or industrial organisation and learning organisation.

Moreover, I learned great tools for knowledge development and how to perform strategy for knowledge building. This can be useful for my next work if I could use what I learned. I believed even if some workplaces they have different or hard culture with no teamwork or any type of participation, people can have the first step to change this environment. For example, if you offer to other work mate to share ideas he might say yes to find out your idea first, and by the time he starts to advise or he asks you to help him in some problem or ask ‘what do you think?’. This type of culture may grow by people interaction in one department and this interaction will reflect on the other department, because all departments are interconnection within one organisation. By this interconnection the organisation may be changed to better organisation learning in the future. This scenario is changing organisation from bottom level to the top levels (bottom - up) and this can be done and start from one employee and with out waiting for any manager to take decision.

Robust Decision Making, presentation practices

From the beginning of the week, we as a group decided to meet 9 AM Monday to organise and structure our ideas. Also, I did some reading around the tools to get some ideas and use it for the preparation of the presentation. In the meeting we agreed that we have to work together for 3 days and this helped me to set my clear objectives and avoid over reading. For example, we identified the tools that we need to use, and because not all of us fully understand all the tools. We started to learn and helped each other as problem solving team. We worked together in generation the data that used in AHP, smart in marketing analysis, SWOT, cash flow analysis, grid analysis and decision tree analysis by voting and discussions. However, our work has democratic style that we work together at the same time but each one can focus more in any tool he’s comfortable with. For instance, after we identified what we will do and how we will prepare the presentation we discussed the SWOT then I chose to focus on the cash flow analysis and decision tree analysis. This learning style enabled me to improve my understanding to the tools that I did and also understanding the other tools used in the presentation by asking my group members to show me how other tools lead to the right decision.

This presentation group work was selected by Jeff and there were members in this group I haven’t worked with them yet which I get feeling of uncertainty. Also, I had feeling that our situation looks like real decision making role chosen by commercial organisation. The benefit that we engaged in the work with commitment behaviour that can be helpful for any external commercial organisation in the real world.

My work experience includes many decision making situations I have been involved in, whether in public sector as the customs department in Kuwait or private companies, I and other members had never used any of these tools, where the decisions always have level of risks.

I believe that I gained valuable skills of decision making events for my future work and life.

Leadership Idea

Writing about web page MBE LE

I was looking for good Leadership style to use it in my pma, htere are many types some of those first time I read about them. But, I remeber what Paul was saying in the class and it helps me to find close leadership style. for example, when he was mention to the for types of the employees and how to deal with those diffrently its required more effort from the leader that he has to be well skilled. Also how the leader control himself and act in part within the team decision making, that he force himself to keep his voice away and try to get the people ideas. Pual has this type of leadership and the way hes taking so im just try to learn from his behaviour as a life example. I read about some one speak about leadership and he link it with the culture like the power destance in the country and he was arguing that democratic leadership has hard time to success there. I think any leadership styles can be good example to success if they organise them actitivities well.

Decision making

Writing about web page First blog

I wasn’t expected that my decisions look like that and the mined has structured process to decide, why my thinking going wrong? I was thinking that people who spend more time in thinking becouse of they are not clever enough. Lots of important things I have learned in this year that I haven’t expected before, it includes the tools that make my decision-making improved such as, how to think in many areas and in deep consequences. I think markinting people when they try to sale or get contract to get some benefits, they try to make people decisions by not more then system 1, for example, when they ask you to get immediately decision or the offer will go.

I’m thinking of some of my, my family and my friends decisions and what bias and group thinking are highly affects. It’s hard to get any decision with out bias in my home local society thinking where the environment around the person is full of trap. I wasn’t imagine that group thinking have this level of bad affects, and organization being victim of decision makers, what is the ownership feeling about this activities? It’s a big responsibility to select the right decision makers.

I learn how measuring my decision in advance now, while I was measure it by its result in the past. I leaned more skills to fix my decision from the first stage, like search for the right data in the right time to generate the right decision and to get satisfaction anchoring. The Robust decision has to be fixable to be able to adopt with many changing external factors in the future and develop alternatives, ask questions like “what if?” Drawing risk affects maps and makes everything clear as much as possible to reduce uncertainty levels.

Last Day Leadership

Writing about web page MBE

Sometimes I did work with my team or individually such as mini project or PMA, and I got the result later so I already forget the work effort that I spent on it.

I feel happy sometime with result, but yesterday Paul said something positive about our work and this make us happier and feel proud we just finished it we got idea about the result also, it helped us in the self assessment.

Paul advice us to have break between works and reward ourselves, such as If I finish my PMA, I go spend sometimes outdoor and feeling relax. This is my philosophy that I use it in my study and work place as well. For example when I achieve my goal where nobody care because it’s my business I celebrate and reward myself by myself like I get holiday or I bay something.

It motivates me in my life and make since to balance my life that I’m not only working for work, or avoid to ask myself I work for what?

I have been to society event in Coventry yesterday evening, and I meet a manager in Saudi Arabia, he was speaking about leadership style. He said that some companies there hire people because of those cualifications, and fire those because of those attitudes! I remember Paul when he told us that clever people not necessarily have high educations.

Also this man talking about some good leaders work in different companies where they don’t have much ideas about the technical knowledge in them organizations, but some of those still perform well because of the high leader skills that they have.

I was interesting to hear from him because I reflect this ideas in my mind and link it with what I learned and with what I will write in my PMA as well.

I believe that to answer Paul question ‘why you choose this leader style?’ I will explore many leaders characters, where some of those are have more than one specific style and deal with each situation in different ways, for example situational leadership style and transformational leadership style.

Additionally, the last two weeks practicing in the class provide as a good ideas about different life leaders styles and how to act as followers.

Leadership style

Writing about web page MBE

Wooooow ‘not agree with them and support them’, who can he do it, its hard some times, but if sometimes leader want to test hem self and he want to see for how level that his decision value, he might wait and find out what other decisions results is. These types of leaders have the opportunity to view many other ideas and find out how multi age people thinking and for sure he couldn’t know everything about it.

I feel it when I did the democratic leader role in the class that I didn’t expected the result. Also the other team with the lay back leadership style has good results. So maybe the level of leader success depends on how many ideas he can get from his people minds.

In the hotel exercise we were participate with our leaders, but we know the we felt less motivated when the leader change. Because we use to the way we practice and also if other leader came with less knowledge about what we are doing, its need time to getting on.

Yesterday was my presentation and I feel happy that I participate my team; I feel that I have to do it and I would be happier to do more works with them. Also we stay to prepare to the other presentation after the class till 7pm, we were working together and shearing ideas between us, I was thinking that how would it looks like if this scenario was in a real workplace and what the leader feel about it? I think this is what they call it “engagement”

Leadership Coaching

Writing about web page MBE

I leaned many things about leadership this week and coaching as well, for example I was thinking that coaching is the person who training players in sports clubs.

Also, goal definition getting much clarity as be able to measure, for example the goal for next month is to finish the PMA with above than 60%. Where the propose is to gain more knowledge and be able to get better future with the MSc.

People when they see something they like they will be influenced by nature, this is the theory of leadership. Everyday this week I do my reflection before the class, Kush come early and sow me and ask me what do you do? I told him I’m writing my reflection, he like it and start blogging I didn’t said to him to do it, he did it by himself, this is a good leadership style and come by nature human being.

In my presentation teamwork meeting, I was acting different then others team work member, I don’t want to disturb them while they working, I was quite and I text my idea to Ceci as a “big secret” she told me to shear my ideas with the others and not with only her, she encouraged me to participate with others, she’s a good leader.

I like some words in many study that represent ideas rather than long sentences, for example in Hoshin Kanri, studies I read “cotchball” it about pass ideas to others to cutch it and add value and send it to others and so on. This word make the readers in more imaginations such as how people plying American football, exactly the same people pass the ball with hard effort then the last one put the goal. All players are working together for the same goal and sharing the benefit. Where they need to find affective communication ways including body language to contact each other’s.

Week 5 / Thursday

I wasnt expacted that intrinsic reward is very important for businesses or leaderships to achieve more thant normal results. I think creating shared goals is not easy that it requires a trust enviorment and approved authorised leadership. I learned that maney important human aspects are interactions each others to contribute the agreed beneift. I was thinking of leadership concepts which are linked to the national cultural dimentions of Hofsted, for example power distance levels as this levels are high in many countries such as in my country is 95% while in the UK 35%. I also think that leadership is about trying to crate a healthy enviornment and strong organisation culture with helping people to understand more about the shared vision, even if this organisation in a high level of power distance region.

Additionally, I learened new things today about my feedbacks from sumia and it was very interesting, as it was like positive advice for me to change and improve, I wasn't expected that level of constructive feedback prior to the activity. I was thinking of the job interview process and how I can use my learnings from today in future, and where possible, in my country where they dont use it often, I hadn't had any of such practices in my previous work except first time when I applied for the job. If I am able to practice the right leadership in my future, I will be able to improve my employees working condition because I will be one the rare ones to do it in my country's public sector.

Also, I enjoyed the meeting simulation and the way we interacted in class, the class and the learning enviorment geeting more fun.
