Sceptic

I'm being forced to keep a blog. Am incredibly against this idea.

I have sound mathematical reasoning for feeling this way too. Truth is I didn't do a Maths degree so it's been 3 very long years really since I've done maths at any serious level. I could be using this time to learn something or read the millions of articles we have to, but instead I must reflect.  *eyebrows raised*.

But I have decided that I won't use this space to complain/whine/moan/b****.

I can't wait to get to a school. Any school. A bad one, a good one, an ugly one or even the best performing one. I want to be in a classroom trying to get through to the millions of kids I'll see everyday.

I think the problem I'll have is that it will be a while until I get my own classroom. Having gone to South Africa for two summers with Warwick in Africa (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qutW3TwO0ak) I've had such a lot of freedom within a classoom and I think I manage it really well. The pre-week we did went incredibly well for me just because I got involved and held my own classes and taught big groups; the teachers of the department were quite shocked that I had got involved as much as I did, especially as I was only there for a week. (I don't mean to offend anyone - I'm sure everyone's went well, but I guess I can only write about me...).

Academically...meh. Could be better. I feel there is a fair bit of time wasting and game playing and patronising....but such is life.

Still convinced that Grid Algebra is a waste of time.
