Pest update from Wellesbourne

When the water traps in the swede plot were checked on Friday 25th October there were:

  • 1 male and 4 female cabbage root flies
  • 21 bean seed flies
  • 6 pollen beetles
  • 21 cabbage stem weevils
  • 2 cabbage seed weevils
  • 4 cabbage stem flea beetles

There were 36 carrot flies on the 3 sticky traps.

No cabbage root fly eggs were laid between 22nd and 25th October (around 15 plants).

No diamond-back moths, no turnip moths, no silver Y moths and no cabbage moths were captured in pheromone traps. There are 2 traps for each species


AHDB Aphid News

The latest edition of AHDB Aphid News has been published.

The total numbers of pest aphids captured in the suction traps during the week ending 20 October are as follows: peach-potato aphid (73 - with 35 at Kirton), potato aphid (1), willow-carrot aphid (664 - with 452 at Dundee, 102 at York and 86 at Kirton), cabbage aphid (0), currant-lettuce aphid (2), pea aphid (7) and black bean aphid (25).
