White rabbit white rabbit white rabbit
Follow-up to New year's resolutions from L'Etrangère
I am just a little bit superstitious, and believe that it is best to salute lone magpies as they hop about campus and mutter 'white rabbit' three times in a row on the first day of every month, just in case my entire future happiness depends upon the successful completion of these actions.
I usually do this kind of thing when running for the bus or sitting in a very public place, preferably amongst people I'm trying to impress, so July has already got off to a good start in that I am slightly drunk and safely ensconced in my own room before starting the ritual muttering.
June was alright, actually, as months of the year go. So was April. Don't really know what happened to May but it happened, or at least I assume it did. We are now exactly halfway through 2005 and I'm not exactly sure what I have achieved in the past six months, besides eating my own body weight in food several times over and sleeping for around one and a half thousand hours, which frankly makes me feel hungry and tired just to think about it.
In terms of the 'official' resolutions:
I ran a half marathon (and was therefore, presumably, fairly fit) but I think it is entirely conceivable that I imagined it.
I have no money so I can't travel anywhere too far flung or exotic, but I did manage a trip to Prague and I'm doing alright with the UK destinations.
I haven't made too much headway with the trivial pursuits questions, though I did learn that a golfer can wait 10 seconds to see if the wind will topple a ball into the hole (sports & leisure). Also, a pint of bitter in the Rovers Return cost 80p after the 1990 budget (entertainment). Coca cola originally went on sale as 'The esteemed brain tonic and intellectual beverage' (food and drink).
Perfection remains elusive, as does canonisation.
Something to strive towards in the latter part of the year perhaps.
