the one with the winning history exam essay formula

Did China gain anything from the world trade in luxury goods?
Yes, but also no.

Does an analysis based on centres and peripheries help us to explain the sources of divergence in paths of economic growth between East and West?
Yes, but also no.

Was China the prime mover behind trade in the early modern period?
Yes, but also no.

I am, like, so going to get a first.

  1. I agree, but in a way… I don't.

  3. Hahaha – how do you think I've been surviving from A-Levels. You just sit on the middle of the fence, throw in a bit of originality, a bit of detail and a bit of bullshitting and whoom, boom, that's the history course for you. It's the same kind of hoops you had to jump through at A-Level but the hoops are smaller.

What I've really gained from this course is the chance to meet some wonderfully talented lecturers/tutors and be encouraged to take on my own study in different fields. So Dr. Gerritsen, back in my first year, really sparked off my love for China. Two years later, I'm speaking Chinese and I can talk to you about various different facets of Chinese history and culture etc.
