So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, Goodbye

I had my graduation today; it was great fun and it was nice to get another chance to see everyone again (well, I say everyone; obviously the poeple on the 4 year course weren't there…). With all the photos the friends' family were taking I got quite good at my "Look At Me I'm Wearing Academic Robes Aren't I Intelligent" pose (hands gripping the sides looking serious; you know the one).
I love how ceremonial it is; it's almost ridiculous; "On behalf of the Senate I present these graduands for degrees" "By the power vested in me…" and so on.
I managed to go all day without falling over, Helen kissed the VC (for reasons I'm sure she'll explain herself) which gave everyone a good laugh, the whole throwing–the–mortar–boards–up–in–the–air–for–the–photo was fun, and I now know that my name appearing on the Pass List wasn't a clerical error…
So, yes, great fun. I recommend you all try it at least once.

Hopefully, thanks to the good people at the WGA, I should be able to keep the old Blog going, but I'm certainly going to miss the University.

So, that's it. I've had a lot of fun at Warwick, met some great people, and been part of the biggest and best student society on campus. But I'm hoping to get a chance to come back and visit friends who haven't left yet.
So don't think of it as "Sayonara"; think of it as "Ja Na"...

Let's say goodbye with a smile, dear,
Just for a while, dear, we must part.
Don't let the parting upset you,
I'll not forget you, sweetheart.

The AllNighter

Writing about web page

The AllNighter was lots of fun again, and I managed to stay awake for the whole thing; only dozing off or a few seconds occasionally during Life of Brian. After we'd tidied–up we went for breakfast at Tesco's cafe; it's really cheap and the food is actually quite nice. Then I went home and went to bed. I've just woken up, so now if you'll excuse me I need to get some sleep…

Also, well done to all you bloggers who can say "Yes! I can!" to:

Can you go AllNight?

Not alone

Follow-up to Societies Fair from The randomness of tomorrow, today!

More people are here now, but you can still come and say hi…

Societies Fair

I knew this would happen, it happens every time; I'm the only person on the WSC stall in the Union, which means I can't leave.

Come and say "Hello"...and join WSC

And yet I'm not really tired…

Writing about web page

Aside from nodding off now and then, I haven't properly been to sleep for somewhere in the region of 34 hours; I've been up since 2pm on Friday…
AllNighters are great…

6 films back–to–back starting on Friday, McDonald's for breakfast about 10 on Saturday, Hearsall Common playing with Flexifoil kites (lots of fun, was that) until early evening, Nando's for food, Odeon for a film, and back home just in time for Sunday.
The only really bad part was when one of the larger kites pulled me over with some force and I fell hard onto the side of my right hand; my little finger has been hurting ever since (It can still bend, which is a good sign) and is currently working on a bruise…
Still, much fun was had by all.

Right: "Time for bed", said Zebedee.

Why WSC is better than the Arts Centre cinema

WSC, when compared to the cinema in the Arts Centre, has:

  • More seats
  • A bigger auditorium
  • A bigger screen
  • A better sound system
  • A more varied schedule
  • A schedule arranged in collaboration with students
  • Cheaper tickets
  • The Allnighter
  • The ability to show 70mm films
  • and probably a few things I can't think of right now

I see Michael Moore’s as biased as ever…

Still, entertaining little film; fun for the whole family!

WarGames; fantastic film. Completely unrealistic, but a fantastic film.
In 70mm, too…
