There's no such thing as a free lunch

Except actually there is…

A couple of Thurdays ago, I want to Cafe Xanana ("bar, bistro, grill", but no mention of "cafe"...). According the clock in Xanana's kitchen it was 5 minutes before the advertised end of food service, but they'd already stopped serving. I got out my phone and sent an email to feedback@sunion.warwick.ac.uk while I was still angry.

After an intermediate email to check a few details, Nick Seagrave (CCDO) emailed me back to say I could have a free main course for two people by way of an apology.

So, since it was still on the lunch menu the next time I happened to go there, I got a free lunch. Admitedly I also had a drink and a side order that I had to pay for, but the main course was free.

I have to compliment them on their after–complaint service…

And the moral of the story is…

…alway check your receipt:

I've just been to Tesco (well, about an hour ago) and bought 6 strawberry Fruit Corners (they were on offer; 6 for £2, saving 28p) but when I checked my receipt I noticed that they came through as full price.
I queried this, and when the manager got back from cheching he said that the offer had expired 50 minutes earlier – at midnight – but they would still honour the offer since the labels were still out.
What he actually did was just to refund one of the yogurts, at 38p each, meaning I saved an extra 10p!

Somehow BFGOF just doesn't have the same ring to it as the classic BOGOF
