This is a local film for local people!

Are you local!?

I rather enjoyed The League of Gentlemen's Apocalypse. It had Tubbs and Edward for one thing, although they had a disappointingly small amount of screen time; the main characters in the film were Hillary Bris, Herr Lipp, and the gruff one from the Mau–Mau joke.

The plot revolves around the impending destruction of their fictional world. Their only hope is to come to our world to seek aid from the only four people that can help…

Much hilarity and memorable catchphrases later, we have a film that is satisfyingly similar to the series without being too trite about it.

If you liked the original, I'm sure you'll like the film. At least it's still the same cast; well, three of them…

Space is big. REALLY big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind–bogglingly big it is…

I went to see the new Hitchhiker's film yesterday. It was quite good.

In case you didn't know, this is the story of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, perhaps the most remarkable, certainly the most successful book ever to come out of the great publishing corporations of Ursa Minor. More popular than the Celestial Home Care Omnibus, better selling than 53 More Things to Do in Zero Gravity, and more controversial than Oolon Colluphid's trilogy of philosophical blockbusters: Where God Went Wrong, Some More of God's Greatest Mistakes, and Who Is This God Person, Anyway?

On it's own, it was a good film, but put next to the TV series (yes, I'm sorry, I haven't heard the original Radio version) there were just certain differences that were somewhat… annoying.
I'm pretty sure the persistance of the vogons is new (it may be in the book, I don't know). Also I'm pretty sure Trillian is supposed to be a blonde that's inteligent, not a brunette that acts like a blonde…
And Zaphod spends most of the film with only one of his heads…
And The Book isn't in it enough…
And I'm pretty sure Arthur doesn't "get the girl" at the end of the first book…

But still, as I said, on it's own I think it's quite a good film, there are just annoying differences between it and the TV series.
