When were you born?
Writing about web page https://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?key=pHtXzcM6CuvXn82qE2hWqXA
A large number of the people that I know have birthdays in either May or October. At least, that's the people that I know where I also know their birthday...
I decided to use Google Docs to see what distribution of birthdays I get from the people who read this blog entry that also decide to fill in the form.
So please fill in the form, and enjoy the pretty graphs:
UPDATE: In response to a comment about privacy, I should point out that all the form asks for is the day and the month. The year is not required, and no other personal information is taken; it's completely anonymous.

It does seem that birthdays clump together within groups of people with similar interests, jobs or personalities, though I suspect it isn’t actually the case.
The number of people you need before it is likely that 2 will share the same birthday is surprisingly low(about 23 I think), yet of the ~20 peoples birthdays I know, 2 share the same birthday, one has the same birthday as me and I think 1 friend has the same birthday as my mother.which is an even higher incidence than you would expect.

I want you to know Richard that I am reading this but I just don’t want to divulge my birthday for security reasons. I’ve become more wary of identity fraud lately.

I’ve already thought of that: all the form asks for is the day and the month. The year is not required, and no other personal information is taken; it’s completely anonymous.

Last night I dreamt of your graphs. They had birthdays with peoples names beside them (they were in table format.) It was a very symbolic dream of freedom and human rights, it was a very happy dream.
