The things I go through for a hundred quid…
I’ve just traded-in all my old consoles to Gamestation in preparation for the Wii; I’ve only used the GameCube for the past few years, and I’ve bought a lot of the old games for the GBA and DS.
I had a devil of a job last night untangling all the wires and digging out all the bits and pieces dotted around here and there; I was knackered by the end of it. Then I had to lug them across town. Still, at least I got some money out of it; it’s more than I had when there were just sitting around gathering dust…
For the lazy among you, I got £112.20 (excluding the GameCube – I got the GameBoy attachment for it but forgot the cover for the expansion port, and they won’t take it without the cover; I’ve found it, though, and I’ll take it back in when I go for the Wii).

Oh, you poor thing, it must have taken you all of what, an hour maybe to collect that stuff together, and you only got £112.20 for your work. Do you know what minimum wage is?

Actually it was at least 2 hours – the cables were very tangled, and there are a lot of non-console trailing cables, too. Plus, they’ve become more and more inaccessible over time since I haven’t been using them; I had to work around a lot of crap because it wouldn’t have been worth moving it just to put it all back again…

Then there was the hour I was in the shop while they tested them; although that wasn’t at all difficult…

I know; I was pleasantly surprised. It’s just a shame they all weren’t that good…

You can still play all those old SNES games and whatever else on your PC – various emulators and hundreds if not thousands of games themselves are available if you look around on Google. So technically you’ve made over a hundred quid and you’ve still got the ability to play all the cool old games that you sold… seems like a good deal to me!

True, but I would never do such a thing because of its questionable legality, even more so now that I don’t actually have the games anymore…
Anyway, the point still stands that I’d already legitimately replaced a majority of the better games with ports to later consoles.

You got 10p for a MegaDrive joypad? Is that it?

Apparently, but before I had no 10p and wasn’t using it…
