Space is big. REALLY big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind–bogglingly big it is…

I went to see the new Hitchhiker's film yesterday. It was quite good.

In case you didn't know, this is the story of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, perhaps the most remarkable, certainly the most successful book ever to come out of the great publishing corporations of Ursa Minor. More popular than the Celestial Home Care Omnibus, better selling than 53 More Things to Do in Zero Gravity, and more controversial than Oolon Colluphid's trilogy of philosophical blockbusters: Where God Went Wrong, Some More of God's Greatest Mistakes, and Who Is This God Person, Anyway?

On it's own, it was a good film, but put next to the TV series (yes, I'm sorry, I haven't heard the original Radio version) there were just certain differences that were somewhat… annoying.
I'm pretty sure the persistance of the vogons is new (it may be in the book, I don't know). Also I'm pretty sure Trillian is supposed to be a blonde that's inteligent, not a brunette that acts like a blonde…
And Zaphod spends most of the film with only one of his heads…
And The Book isn't in it enough…
And I'm pretty sure Arthur doesn't "get the girl" at the end of the first book…

But still, as I said, on it's own I think it's quite a good film, there are just annoying differences between it and the TV series.

  2. You going blog social tomorrow?

If you meant the actual tomorrow, then possibly. If you actually meant today, then unlikely…

Arthur never ‘gets’ trillian, yes she is a blonde who is intelligent, the TV show way of doing zaphod was much better (even with the crap effects). However the vogons are persistent bastards…
The radio show is awesome, but the books are far better. Plus there is a reason that the film did not come out until after Adams’ death despite having been in production hell for many years of his life.
