Although it’s not the same, it reminds me of something that happened when I was younger. It’s one of those things which is brought up at regular intervals over the years. It was just before Christmas and my Dad had lent his car to my sister to go out for the night. My sister came home at about 2 o’clock in the morning without the car. She said that when she got back to the car park it had disappeared so my Dad called the police who came round to our house. They questioned my sister for quite a while because I seem to remember we all went to bed at about 4.30 am. Later that morning a policeman knocked on the door to say that the car had been found but it was in such a position that they couldn’t see how it could possibly have got there, it was in an enclosed oblong between two garages and two high walls in a very small space. Everyone was really shocked and it had to be lifted out by crane but my Mum has always been very suspicious about it and swears blind that my sister knew something about how it got there. Every now and then she’ll say “You lent that car to some boys, didn’t you?” and she says “No” but she always has that little smile on her face that says she is holding back some information and my Mum says “Well, there’s something very fishy about it.” I’ve never asked her outright myself because it’s one of those things you quite like to remain a complete mystery. To this day I’m quite intrigued by it especially as the police were absolutely baffled as well.
