If you ever find yourself with a gun pointing at you…
Although I doubt I’d be able to do it fast enough to be effective…

Nice, but only useful if you’ve got an unskilled opponent. Anyone with firearms training will be out of reach, and most likely using a two-handed stance. The kinds of people with training who use one-handed stances will have already shot you…

I dunno, i’d have thought you’re most likely to have a gun pulled on you if you’re being mugged. In these situations the mugger is generally just desperate and not a cold-blooded killer which makes it the ideal situation for this move to work. Obviously you’d have to have the move perfected before ever attempting it though.

In these situations the mugger is not trying to shoot you, just scare you, and the right thing to do is comply with whatever they want. If you attempt a disarm you are stepping into harm’s way – this is fine if you believe that you’d be shot anyway, but otherwise you should just hand over your wallet and live to fight another day.

But I don’t actually want to hand over my wallet…
Alternatively you could do a modern day Crocodile Dundee: “That’s not a gun. This is a gun…”

That’s not a gun, this is a gun :-)
You’d rather increase the risk of being shot?

That’s not a gun, this is a gun…
Primarily I’d like not to be in the situation in the first place, but failing that I’d rather get out of it (somehow) with a wallet and no bullets…
