I commend him for having the balls to stand up there, but he's not particularly funny. That video segment at the end was so long and tedious.

I think what's significant– unnecessary final segment notwithstanding– is what was actually said, rather than the quality of the jokes themselves. The sense that there appears to be a certain incredulity at Colbert being able to 'get away' with such a monologue speaks volumes.
That said, the Colbert persona really does take off on his own show, where his mimickry of illogical political thinking comes into its own.

Really? He has his own show? He should have plugged it more on those videos. Unfortunately, it was shit, so I turned it off after about 5 minutes.
