  1. Ouch, have to disagree, I thought Pete was out of time and the whole thing sounded pretty tragic. Think most of the bands would do well to stick to their own stuff from what I've seen so far ("The ace of spades", Kelly? Really?)

  2. Ah T-Rex's Children of the Revolution = brill.

No you won't fool the children of the revolution!

But I can't imagine Elton John doing it well…

  3. Shucks, I missed it. Ah well, at least I did so because of something as awesome as the second series of Spaced DVD…

  4. Isn't Doherty able to keep off the smack for one afternoon? He looked whazzed off his tits!

  5. he was rubbish. when will he learn it's no good having talent if you leave it at home and replace it with an armful of drugs

  6. ps. he'll learn when his fans do.

  7. He has fans?!?
My brother got into the car when this song was on the radio and said "why are t-rex playing, they're all dead". It was worth it for that quote if nothing else.

  8. i'm on the minus side here, apart from his trousers [rick – find out where he got them! with legs like yours… :D] he pretty much sounded like my singing ass. however, WOOOOOOOT PINK FLOYD. i'm looking forward to that shit. bring it on!

  9. Damn missed it too! Yes Pete has fans. Fans of his excellent and often unreleased music utterly infuriated that his vices may mean he never manages to condense the potential for genius into a few moments of musical brilliance. ("I'm so clever, but not very wise" as the single Babyshambles single suggests) To be fair, if he was wearing Mark Bolan style make-up that might explain the 'whazzed off his tits' effect… though I'd be able to say that more confidently had I seen the performance

  10. But that was the whole point. He was completely out of it, out of tune, out of time and he still managed to steal the entire show from somebody who has been in the business for 35 years. This man, twat or not, is a legend. And was anybody else annoyed by the fact that the only bit of music from the entire day that the BBC failed to broadcast was the first minute and a half of R.E.M. doing Man on the Moon?

  11. Yes that pissed me off. The Beeb were a bit fluffy round the edges on this one, not surprisingly thought I guess. I can imagine heated arguments in the gallery before Fearn was cut off (again!).

Sorry though, I can't support/admire/legendise a complete no brainer walking needle, who blatently cares more about his own image than what he is potentially legitimising to teenagers.

Sorry to be an old man, but basically, basically….he's a cunt.

  13. They were great as ususal.

I wish I could say the same as you do Adam about Pete. I really really really want to hate him. I want to be able to say that he's a cunt. But for some reason I can't. The man just captivates me in a way that very few people do. He's a terrible example for people our age, and younger, and yet his presence is so appealing and attractive. I think for me it doesn't matter how he appears and what planet he appears to be on the charisma and talent show through. He is a true personality and entertainer. I wish I didn't like him so much but maybe the reason is because so much of what he says is real. He doesn't pretend. He's a drug adict and he doesn't try to pretend that he's not. That may be shocking to many people but at least he doesn't try to hide it. His songs are so truthful and so real. I find myself sympathising with him because some of the things that he says I can relate to. I don't want to like this man, in a world that makes sense I would hate Doherty as much as I hate Chris Evans (and believe me, and for no real reason, that's a lot) but I don't. It wouldn't be a problem if people admired the man for his ability but they don't, it's the whole package that for no real reason is so appealing. He's horribly compelling and sadly so may people clearly feel the same way.
