I just saved a student's life but she didn't thank me

Follow-up to Don't you want to live for ever? from Visiting Atheist

Actually, she was trying to commit suicide but I don’t think she realised that, either.

She stepped off the curb in front of Costcutters without looking and walked in front of my car. Okay, an emergency stop from 20 mph isn’t the most dramatic thing to witness but I just managed to avoid her. She didn’t notice because she was too busy fiddling with her mp3 player whose earplugs she already had in place.

I wound the window down to yell at her about looking out for herself but she may not have heard. Either way, she’s lucky not to be in hospital. And she has no idea. She may think she’s immortal but I think I just lost six months off my life!

  1. Justified action: Getting out of car and running over to her and giving her a good slap.

  4. This is why I’d never drive a car near campus. To the extent of never having driven a car within about 30 miles of the place!
