Physics A–level/GCSE tuition in Warwickshire

If you live in Leamington Spa or the surrounding area and are looking for a tutor to teach Physics at GCSE or A-level standard then look no further!

Background

I am a recent Mphys (Master of Physics) graduate from the University of Warwick, with a strong academic record, proven organisational skills and highly conscientious. I am offering a fully tailored program primarily for students studying toward A-level and GCSE Physics qualifications, although help is available for those wishing to generally improve their maths and physics skills. My CV is available on further request.

Program details

A first assessment appointment lasting one and a half hours and costing £15 will be made at the start of the program. It is advised that any qualification-specific material be brought along to aid in the construction of a suitable course. Thereafter appointments with myself can be made by the hour at a rate of £15.00 with tutorials taking place at my house (details on request). Appointments are all inclusive with a minimum of one hour contact time with the student, but also include any subsequent marking of assessed work and planning for subsequent tutorials.

Tutorial Approach

Having studied Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry at A-level I am well aware from my own experience of the key concepts and hurdles which may impede the student. Additionally it also offers me an insight into how to better tailor the course to the student and to maximise results. All levels of student are welcomed, and students should be reassured that the atmosphere will be one conducive to learning and develop on knowledge they already have. For tutees that lack foundation knowledge I will go through the basics until they fully understand, then help improve their weaknesses through practice and by logical thought. Students will be prompted not only to apply knowledge mechanically but to understand the concepts behind what they are doing. This a much more efficient way of learning and allows for more material to be understood.

Tutorials will be supplimented through weekly assessed exercises and the student is encouraged to complete these unaided, although the use of textbooks may be permitted where concepts are new. These will be marked by myself and feedback given to flag up any areas which require further attention or additional work.

Travel

There is provision for tutorials to be done at a location which suits the student although I will charge £1 per mile one way*, and the total cost will need to be agreed proir to the tutorial. Please email me any cost requests to the email address as outlined in the contacts section below.

Payment

Payments must be made in advance to the session. Cash is accepted at the start of the session, but funds from cheques or bank transferes must be cleared before the session will commence. Booking for up to 4 weeks in advance is permitted and cancellations up to 4 days in advance are allowed without penalty; thereafter £5.00 per hour booked shall be retained to cover expenses.
