Reminder: RefWorks cancellation

Just a reminder that you will no longer have access to the RefWorks software after 31 October 2007. If you wish to save your references for use in other packages, please refer to the blog entry Importing references from RefWorks into EndNoteWeb on the Library’s new EndNote Web blog.
If you have problems doing this, contact the IT Services Helpdesk on 024 7647 3737 or email: helpdesk@warwick.ac.uk.

RefWorks Cancellation – ALL USERS PLEASE READ

Unfortunately, following a period of consultation, IT Services have decided not to renew the RefWorks software licence. You will not be able to access RefWorks, or any of the references stored in it, after 31 October 2007. The EndNote software – an alternative to RefWorks – will continue to be available.

If you wish to keep the references stored in your RefWorks account, you will need to save them to a file. References created in RefWorks can also be transferred into EndNote. For more information on either of these, please contact the IT Services Helpdesk on 024 7657 3737, ext. 73737 or email: helpdesk@warwick.ac.uk.

Any comments or feedback should be sent to Patrick Ryan.

Update: voting on this poll has now closed.

The University has subscriptions to both RefWorks and the EndNote referencing software and is currently reviewing this provision. It would like your input on which package you prefer. If you would like to vote, please go to the RefWorks and Endnote page on the IT Services website.

Change over to Outlook / new passwords

This posting is for those staff affected by the move from GroupWise to Microsoft Outlook. As part of the changeover, you will have had to change your IT Services Password. If you are using the new ATHENS DA system (i.e. the ATHENS system that uses your IT Services password), then your ATHENS password has changed too.

More simply, with ATHENS DA your ATHENS username and password is always the same as your IT Services username and password. So, if you’ve set up a RefWorks account using the new ATHENS DA system, the password will change to the password you selected when moving from GroupWise to Outlook.

You won’t need to do anything within RefWorks – it should automatically pick up the change when you click the ATHENS users link.
