That's a crap name for a band.
Well, that's the first thing people say, but it was the day before the entry deadline for last years battle of the bands competition and we had to think of something.
Replica X have been called many things, some of which I may quote at some point, but we are essentially a stadium rock/hair metal band. Although I think Fretwiddlingprogrockdryiceottermetal sums it up well too.
Anyway, Replica X are:
Vocals: Oliver Curnicks – We 'stole' him from Snarf and the Flux Capacitors cause he can wail like a demon.
Guitar: Um…..me. I like to think of myself as the sweep picking king.
Guitar: Hywel Bennet – Is essentially a git. He knows just about every Dream Theater song on guitar and owns a Jem (Steve Vai's signature guitar in case you didn't know.
Keyboards: Chris Simms – He's got a keytar, it's awesome.
Bass: Charles Gill – The latest member of the band, and something of a ninja warrior.
Drums: Alex 'Dr Lego' Wilson – Spent his PhD funding on a monster rack mounted drum kit.
After failing miserably in last years battle of the bands, we bummed around playing cheesy covers for the best part of a year before deciding to pull our fingers out and write some tunes. We were most delighted to get to the final of this years botb and even more delighted to win the whole competition :) . The prize for which includes time in a studio, awesome.
Recordings of the final can be found here
Some of you may have also seen us at Crash with the Imperial Vipers and Fire of Prometheus. That was also awesome, possibly our best gig yet.
Our next live performance will be at The Last Exit on wed 22nd june in the Coliseum, coventry.
Thought you guys were great on Friday. Nice one.

hehehehe
I did not spend my PhD funding on a rack…. the rack demanded purchase on pain of death, then stole my funding in a cunning 'you must own me' kind of plan.
I should have some new cymbals coming this week which makes me happy.
