Meet the Team #3 – David Hawkes

Name: David Hawkes

Position: Deputy Head of Sport

Team: Leicester City

Home town: Leicester

First Match for RaW Sport: I think it was a Villa game in about October 2003

Dave Hawkes has the honour of being the longest serving member of the RaW Sport team. He is also probably the most knowledgeable of member of the team and is noteble for managing to keep in touch with virtually every sport whilst somehow maintaining a social life. However, somewhat perversely, Dave has thus far managed never to take part in an edition of the world famous RaW Sport Quiz (Saturdays 5.30-6.00pm). If he ever did he would be sure to thrash us all.

In the course of duty for RaW Sport Dave has been all over the country and, being a Leicester City season ticket holder, often takes time out from a match (or should that be impending defeat?) to contact the studio and let us know how things are going. He has also spent many an hour on RaW Sport defending the talents of former Leicester legend Emile Heskey. Sadly he has yet to convince us.

Currently Dave is training to be a teacher, which means that in theory he should be the one who keeps the rest of us in order. Thankfully, since Director of Sport Mr Steven Hoon went to find fortune in the big city, there has been less need for this. However at least with Dave around there is someone to ask when we need to leave the studio and go to the toilet.

RaW Sport's 'Punt the Pundit' – Week 6 Nominations

Follow-up to RaW Sport’s Punt the Pundit from RaW Sport Blog

After Andy Gray survived being nominated last week we all wondered if he would be nominated again. Unfortunately for Andy he has, and this week he finds himself up against cheery perma-tanned England legend Gary Lineker. Obviously at this stage of the competition the quality left in the house is pretty high, and for me, this is the first week when two genuinely talented pundits go head to head. Having said that one of these guys is my favourite to win the competiton, and without wanting to give anything away, I was shocked that he almost went last week. Anyway time to get voting. Results, as usual, will be revealed on Wednesday’s show.
