The Woman In The Cupboard

Here is a short poem inspired by a strange encounter during observation week. The odd sighting has creeped me out slightly but I embrace this feeling and am reflecting on it in order to create art.

The Woman In The Cupboard by Ross Brown

She stares. She Sits. She Sits. She Stares.
The Woman in the cupboard.
She leans. She rocks. She rocks. She leans.
The Woman in the cupboard.
What does she do? We are not quite sure
She shakes the polish, we’ve seen it before.
But why in the cupboard at half past three
It’s a riddle for you, and a riddle for me.
The Woman in the cupboard.
She shakes. She Stirs. She Stirs. She Shakes.
The Woman is still in the cupboard.
All day. All night. All night. All day.
The Woman is still in the cupboard.
Is the cupboard her house we are not quite sure
Does she use the polish to shimmer the floor
She may just sit and shake-a-way
Shaking her polish all through the day.
The Woman is still in the cupboard.
She stares. She sits. She rocks. She leans.
The Woman never leaves the cupboard.
She shakes. She stirs. All day. All Night.
The Woman never leaves the cupboard.
And if one day you dare go in there
She might give you a little scare.
For her story is worse than that of a wasp bite
Then you to might shake polish all through the night.
The Woman never leaves the cupboard.
She stares. She watches. She watches. She stares.
The Woman in the cupboard.
She glares. She haunts. She haunts. She glares.
The Woman in the cupboard . . . is watching you!
