10 reasons why Psychology is the best subject AND is much better than classics!

Just for you Vicky G:

1 – Our lectures very rarely last longer than 35minutes!

2 – In your seminar and lab classes, you will probably be the only male :)

3 – You get to wear a white coat and carry a clipboard.

4 – You get to use phrases like "a regression to the oral stage of moral development" and "the patient's ego's character became a residue of abandoned object cathexes"

5 – You dont require a hero because the concept of admiration is completely explained by personality… although Freud is a bit of a ledge ;-)

6 – You have an excuse to learn hypnosis.

7 – With all the theories of behaviour you learn you remain a mystery even to yourself.

8 – Because you can make up experiments by just choosing a random name and date you can impress people by pretending you obviously know a lot about your subject.

9 – You get to experiment on people. evil smile

10 – You get to meet people who can discuss the meaning of a two letter word [id] for over an hour!

So Vicky G, i think its only obvious that psychology kicks the ass off classics… and ive even failed to mention the fact i dont have to learn latin nore ancient greek :P :P

  2. Classics is still better! Surely you'd much rather learn about Comedy than Freud?! Although he can be hilarious, he is no Aristophanes :) And ahving done both subjects for A Level I feel like I'm qualified to be right on this one!!!

  4. cracks knuckes

First, Psychology is a pile of codswallop! We don't even know if it's all true…just old bearded pschologists making up theories about repression and stuff to sound clever.

Second, why would you want to learn things like hypnosis when you have the choice of reading The Odyssey/Tragedy/The Aenied etc instead?

Thirdly, you get to admire heroes in Classics! Not people like Freud who get too much attention anyway.

    Fourthly, classics rules!

Nicholas Hudgell – You have obviously never read The Odyssey. You don't get cooler than Odysseus. :D He's the dude…yes Siree.

    VICKY! YOUR IGNORANCE ASTOUNDS ME!

all of Freuds best work was done in his early (pre-beard) years, and neither Watson, Skinner nor Jung had beards… so your talking bollox :P

Classics requires learning a language noone else speaks, in which u can describe a war but not say hello, my name is vicky!

furthermore, all your classics stories are made up people talking crap! at least freud was real when he talked bollox!

and finally i have cooler hair!

  6. mwaha!

I was using 'beard' as a metaphor! cough
Plus, i bet loads of psychologists had beards…and if they didn't have beards then i bet they probably didn't have them becuase they are so self absorded and hung up about issues like why Little Hans didn't like rats that they could no longer grow a beard!

Learning ancient greek and latin is sooooo useful…its where english was derived from! I learn about the language so i don't need speak it!

And of course all the mythical heroes were real! They were real! Real i tell you!

    :-P

  8. Tish and Pish! I consider myself lucky to not know the ins and outs of little boys' fears. It's all ridiculous anyway.

I can see us hitting eachother with our textbooks next…and you would win cos yours is blooming huge!

  9. I reckon my soil block research would pack more of a wallop than Alex's textbook.

By its sheer volume and complete lack of organisation.

Particularly if teamed with my maths book.
