Australia Day fever
This Australia Day promises to be more exciting than ever as the Biological Sciences postdocs gather to celebrate our little island down under. Between 4:30 and 5:30 PM on Friday the 26th of January, the department has graciously agreed to provide a round of drinks (juice, beer or wine) for the postdocs. We look forward to seeing you in the new refectory!
A doubtless silly question, but where is “the new refectory”? I’ve not been here long enough to have found such a place, I don’t think…

So, instead of kicking back at home , watching the cricket, drinking VB and eating a ‘dogs eye’ with ‘dead horse’ I’ll have to come to work and socialise on my obligatory national holiday.
see youse there.

Do you know wether your boss reads these blogs ;-)?
Australia day is not a conventional way to use Robert’s Fund money… but as free beer is involved I’m sure everyone will get into the spirtit… even England Cricket Fans. I suppose what I’m saying is that Burn’s day might have been more apporipiate, but then that was yesterday and Fridays are inherently “more merry” – even if Rabbie Burns events promise more Spirit (read: Whisky).

I think that my boss would be shocked and amazed that I was in working on Australia day.
