Mike Brennan is an ESRC Research Fellow in the Department of Sociology, University of Warwick. He has written widely on the topic of cultural mourning. His publications include: ‘Some Sociological Contemplations on Daniel J. Goldhagen’s “Hitler’s Willing Executioners”’ (Theory, Culture & Society, 2001); ‘Towards a Sociology of (Public) Mourning?’ (Sociology, 2001); ‘Echoes of Loss: Condolence Books and Collective Memory in the Mourning for Hillsborough’ (in Historical Perspectives on Social Identities, Cambridge Scholars Press, forthcoming 2006). His current research focuses on the subject of memory, mourning and narrative in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
