Update

So I stumbled across this blog again…. it was only a matter of time really. Found out there is another muldoon at the Uni – a lady named Roisin (perhaps a distant relation?)

Avid readers of my blog will be glad to know I am no longer working for HSBC in Binley, though I did stick it for the entire time I intended to. At least it saved on a gym membership!

I only have 9 days left at Warwick, and am unsure if this will be deleted afterwards. Still, its been emotional.

Anyway, thats enough of that.

sweet jesus

So I started at HSBC today. Christ almighty

Some top people working there – the job is actually okay. a bit mind-numbing… but what temp job for student isn't?

So if you're thinking of working there – great. The hours are a bit dodgy – 6.30pm – 11.30pm at HSBC's office in Binley Business Park. The real killer (which inspired the title of this entry) is the ten mile round trip which the job entails from my house.

Can I start by saying that five miles each way on a bike is soooooooo much easier in a freaking gym. In a gym you have the option of getting off when you want, a nice refreshing drink, a shower and maybe a swim. However, when you are not entirley sure of the route, and encounter a motorway at approximately three miles into the trip (illegal for bikes, and bloody stupid with no lights) a major detour is called for.

Cue me – no lights – on some bloody road on the outskirts of coventry. No street lamps either, and someone had the bloody good idea of not putting a pavement on the side of the road.

So its pitch black, I have to be in Binley in 20 minutes. Harsh blow. I commence my cycle along the rough grass on the side of this road in the middle of nowhere. Reminds me that hills are so much more effective in the real world.

Made it in the end, took a more lit route home through Central coventry and then back out of coventry to the Fletchamstead Highway.

Thought I was going to die. I think I may actually quit this job. Since when has ten miles of cycling through coventry at night worth earning £5.50 per hour for five hours of data entry.

It's a sorry state of affairs. I'm going to bed. I sincerely hope Web Design is the way forward. I really hate this sorta thing.

Interesting

Just typed in 'Patrick Muldoon Blog' on yahoo and found this. So maybe if someone was searching for Patrick Muldoon the actor (Starship Troopers).... and blogs…. they might actually find this entry…

spooky

so sorry to disappoint, i hear he is not so prolific these days.

So I've kinda finished working for I.T Services now… there is only so long some of the students can go before they finally get their internet connections going. hopefully i can work there again next year, but until then i'm gonna work for HSBC for a week or two before I head home for Christmas. Started working on the website for Blueprint Web Design – check out the progress – www.blueprinttest.netfirms.com

this whole concept of blogging is utterly strange. Its strength seems to lie in the fact that other people actually have an interest in what everyone else is up to. It seems to be pretty successful so I guess people are just inherently nosey. or bored.

I guess the thing about students financial insecurity is that places like the Internet are more throughly explored. Never again may we have so much time and so little money with which to entertain ourselves. I sincerely hope that if one day II have a widescreen plasma television and a Yacht in the Med, I ain't gonna be searching yahoo for 'patrick muldoon blog' (unless i'm really really bored)

anyway until the next time i stumble across this place

And So It Begins…

Blogs is it? Interesting.

So I thought I'd take the plunge – what's the worst that could happen? Well, I think the worst case scenario is that I can never think of anything to say on these things, and therefore it will become fairly reduntant fairly soon.

So, my name is patrick. i do computing & business here at warwick. I'm in my second year now, and counting down the days to when I can get a nice job and actually have something that resembles money. Until then, I will have to make do with Blogs for my entertainment purposes

I currently work for Warwick Piazza IT helpdesk, which is a barrel of laughs. There is a disturbingly high number of students here who can't quite suss out how to put that red cable in the hole in the wall – still it means i get paid so i don't mind.

So yeah, essentially I have already fallen into the trap I spoke of earlier, whereby I wouldn't have much to say. Nevermind, I'll let the vino pour, and see if this board can take some of my late night alcohol fuelled assaults. I think that would be more interesting.

Until then.
