BlogBuilder update: Better tags

There has been a new release to BlogBuilder this morning, with a few fixes that people may find useful:

Custom Taglists

You can now create a custom taglist on the Admin -> Appearance page of your blog by clicking Yes on "use Custom taglist" and entering a list of tags into the field below.

Easier to tag entries and images

You can now get suggestions when you're typing in tags for your entries or images. For a short visual tutorial on how this works, you can see the entry here: link

Miscellaneous

  • Chinese characters in profile titles now work
  • Chinese characters in tags should now display correctly (but not when you click them yet)

How about a way of getting the custom taglist to be presented in the order I enter it on the appearance pages, rather than sorted by the number of entries with each tag? If using this feature to create a standard "table of contents" having the entries always in the same order would make it work much better!

This was suggested when the feature was started, I will look into it, but it's certainly a lot harder to make the tags display in order than to make custom taglists.

  6. If I try to use the down or up arrow keys to manoeuvre round the main text box while writing an entry, it's constantly suggesting possible tags for that entry to me.

It's quite annoying – is there any way to stop it /change my settings so it doesn't do this? Or am I just being thick and missing something obvious here?

Think the suggested list for the tags / keywords box is great though… it's just the main text box I'm having problems with.

  7. Oh it's less annoying with Internet Explorer (I've been using Mozilla) as the arrow keys actually work normally here

You're not missing anything, Rosalind; it's a bug in Warwick Blogs which affects Firefox/Mozilla but not IE; we've logged it here and there'll be a fix along shortly.

My fingers are burning with the fix, which should be along later today, sorry.

Something that Firefox gets wrong but IE does right? You are now entering the Twilight Zone…

Something that Firefox gets wrong but IE does right?

Other than mangling CSS and the silly way of selecting link bar text? ;)

(Incidentally, I didn't notice because it's not quite as bad in Deer Park)

And now it's fixed. Sorry about that!
