It’s a wonderful photo, was it a full moon? For Christmas I was given a book called “Heaven and Earth Unseen by the Naked Eye” which has some great photos in it but the title holds a slight irony for me because when I was fourteen I remember being set an essay to write at school in which I used the expression “unseen by the naked eye” and was reprimanded quite severely by my English teacher who said “never use that ridiculous expression!” To this day I have no idea why.

Yep, it’s inverted by the mirrors and then rotated through some arbitrary angle by the eyepiece/CCD splitter mirror.
