The Colloseum Gig

Follow-up to The Barbs from Matthew's blog

What a great night 4 bands and I only paid 3 quid, now if I hadn't been driving it would have been even better.
The first band was Lake Effect who were ok.
Next were Special Needs who are nuts, they were great to watch and were a kind of 60's/70's sounding band, with not all their dogs barking.
The Rocks were next, and as the name suggests the did indeed Rock. The were loudy and fun and well worth a listen to if you get the chance.
Finally the band that I had been waiting to see The Barbs, Absolutely amazing stuff. There were new songs, old songs banter with the crowd…and an inflatable banana!
I left the Colly feeling super-charged (the incredibly sugary coke probably helped with that feeling aswell).
When the Barbs get back to Cov go see them that's an order!

A super film from a director who I'll be writing alot more about, Wong Kar Wai.
I descovered this film in China when I was there and made everyone watch it. It's well shot with two seperate story lines and some great acting. Tony Leung is superb as a love-sick policeman and Faye Wong is stunning as the disolusioned, chip shop employee who dreams of becoming an airstewardess…sorry flight attendant!
Definately worth a watch if you can find it…simply brilliant.

Travel

If anyone wants to view some travel photos the galleries are begining to go online now. If you are all lucky I might even include some writing on my adventures.

It could be called, "strange mix of B52's and some kind of punky band that doesn't have a swear word in the title". This would be unfair, although they do defy description…at least from me.
The album is fun and bouncy although they are capable of a more serious edge, especially in the superb 'Bury You'.
A great debut album and I'm really looking forward to seeing them play again on Saturday, at the Colloseum.

This is a quality Ep from the London based group. Full of energy with brooding vocals from the lead (Liela Moss).
I loved it…Red Weather and Howling Self are outstanding. The only thing better than listening to this is seeing them live as they kick several kinds of ass.

Welcome

Welcome to my site, hopefully this will get full of useful and/or interesting articles…although you never can tell!
