How West Midlands Police are using Live Video at facebook in March 2016

Writing about web page

Part of posting on this blog is making sense of what has happened (to me) since I left Warwick.

For the last five years, on and off, I've been supporting West Midlands Police. That started in Feb 2011 by accident when I saw a live video broadcast by Chief Inspector Kerry Blakeman (1 Feb 2011).

You can read about a Live YouTube broadcast using Hangouts on 14 Sep 2011 at this post.

The aim of this post is to bring to light what's happening right now in 2016, and what happened last night with Superintendent Kerry Blakeman and Special Constable Lee Page - you can read about and my notes in the link above in the Related web page area (or just click here).

The more appropriate reason for posting here on a Warwick Blog is to celebrate what the local West Midlands Police are achieving through the use of Social Media like live video and how this broadcast was cohosted by two officers very local to the University of Warwick.

Supt Kerry Blakeman has made previous live broadcasts from Earlsdon and Stivichall in Coventry. While Sc Lee Page is also a Communications Manager at West Mids Police (and former Comms Manager at the University fo Warwick too).

My own interest in all of this - to make sense of the changes where anything we do these days progress from analogue to digital. No more so than live video while travelling fast in a police patrol car on a blue light (see video 3 and 9).

Of course for the very preceptive of you, the University of Warwick is located half in the West Midlands and half in Warwickshire. Well at least when I was there it was.

There youhave it, a short post and ifyou do watch teh broadccasts - please let Kerry Blakeman know - best on twitter as @kerryblakeman.

Endpoint, Google docs now have a feature to download a file as ePub. This means making your own eBooks to be read in Google Books or an ePub reader on mobile or tablet. I'm experimenting with this idea now - you can find a raw demo at: Kerry Blakeman at 2011 to 2015.
