Phorm surveillance




Introduction


I have been doing some research onto the program Phorm which is beiong used to target advertising. It seems that like the Beacon system that Facebook users rebelled against it is through devious means managing to harvest information from users via their Internet Service Providers (ISPs).

I don't have time right now to pull all the results and links together so this is currently a post just to flag up the danger.

There is an E petitition to sign up to here if the privacy issues worry you which they should. The issues are about users having rights to opt into a system rather than have to opt out and also the issues of what is done with the data information harvested. Some people may wish to have highly targeted advertising made available to them but lot's don't. It is very important to resist the surveillance society.
