Sziget Festival

Writing about web page http://www.szigetfestival.com

main stageSixty-six days left till the Sziget Festival in Budapest kicks off! The programme this year is possibly more ass-kicking than that of last year. I cite Franz Ferdinand, Placebo, Radiohead, Scissor Sisters, and for the more musically refined dEUS, Wir Sind Helden and Cheb Mami as some of this year’s highlights. Seven days of non-stop party on the Danube island of Obuda (Sziget is Hungarian for island) in a very nice country with Eastern European prices.

I am hoping to go as a journalist again, as I did last year (see also my photo gallery). Anyone planning on going?

  2. Wow. A whle bunch of us went last year, and are going again this year. Didn't realise it was this well known. If you want to hang out there then that would be coolio.

    Also Scissor sisters? Pfft.

  3. Yeah, it's definately up–and–coming. My Dutch friends have been going there for about four years already, I went last year. Somehow the place is dominated by Dutch and Germans.

Interesting to note is that I've been told it's Europe's biggest open air festival at the moment. Whether that be in most no of stages, most visitors or most acts, I dunno.

  4. Btw… Zanzibari/Polishman???! That'd be the last combination I'd be able to think of! How did you parents meet?
