h4. Failure

Some two years ago I started this BLOG to encourage mature students to talk to one another. I have failed.

I understand that people committing themselves to university study later in life may be hard pressed for time, however, for me, a good bit of the motivation for doing a degree was the expectation of intellectually stimulating exchanges with other students. It seems it was not to be, at least with other mature students.

Perhaps my mistake was to regard myself as an oldie rather than simply as a student. I find that many of my young contemporaries are perfectly happy to engage with me without any of the ageism that I find so hard to avoid when assessing myself.

It remains my conviction that the University suffers from too little interactive, co–operative student effort.
