KBAM: Effective Health & Safety Management

This incorporates the development, coordination and control of a continuous improvement process by defining and moderating health and safety standards at the workplace. There should be a clear written and formal policy with regards to health and safety, summarized in the organisation’s vision. It should entail the perspectives with respect to the future, and provide guidelines on risk identification and prevention for all internal and external members of the organisation. The health and safety policy and management strategy should be translated into the planning process. In order to assess the strategy’s efficacy, both internal and external methods should be implemented. In addition, there should be regular reviews with regards to performance by monitoring activities based on data and from the health and safety management audits.

This is a good and consistent way to summarize the process of planning and deployment of health and safety management, it is exactly what companies need to bear in mind when deciding to work in this regard. The monitoring phase is a really interesting point given the importance of controlling and following up what is going on, I think this point is crucial in any organizational context, monitoring plus assessment is the way to find areas of improvement, is a way of caring about what organizations do, and to be in contact of what has consumed time and effort when developing. I mean, the planning and designing phase is basic, it consumes time, effort and resources, when is time to implement it, organizations should not forget about them, sometimes those things happen given to the absence of strong monitoring tools and commitment. Once companies look after their plans, they can asses how the are doing, and what can they do better. As you have mentioned internal, and external methods can be applied, anyway, the point is to be able to do things better, to see that there is always room for improvement, and to realize that this is the path to achieve excellence.
