Orangina advert and Monkey Olympics

Two mass media texts I’ve seen recently that I really like, both really short, and both advertising something that are way, way less interesting than the adverts are themselves. One was the trailer for the Olympics based on various incarnations of Journey to the West http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/olympics/2008/07/what_do_you_think_about_monkey.html. The other is for that Orangina advert. Both are also interesting for the debates that have cropped up around them. When I saw both I thought they were both so self-evidently brilliant that no-one could have an issue with them, but reading through the posts that accompany them a lot of people are either bewildered or outraged by them. Are these texts really so difficult to read that people are being confused by them? And are people so prudish that a few anthros strutting around being sprayed by orange juice is upsetting them? Really, I’d like get my head around what people’s problem is.
