A rubbish accident
A nice day in Coventry... (if that can be had) was planned, my best mate who I hadn't seen for months was down and things were looking good!
Had a shower, no problems... went upstairs to get changed and walked into the other room in the process tripping over the bloody carpet runner which was jutting up - neglect by the landlord! I smacked my knee on the carpet runner and grimaced with pain, thinking you 'stupid sod' and then looking down saw blood dripping down my leg and a huge gash in my knee!!! On closer inspection I could see fat - it was pretty damn deep so after some iodine and a bandage it was off to A&E... so much for a historical walk around Coventry...
20 minutes later sat in A&E sipping crappy vending machine coffee me and my mate have a good catch up... discuss plans for the stag do, all in the comfortably sterile, claustrophobic surroundings of Coventry University hospital, lovely. Half an hour later I get 'Triaged' great... another 30 minutes later I am in a cubicle, 20 minutes then a doctor comes, looks, talks, buggers off...
Enter charge nurse after more time has uncomfortably passed... Local anaesthetic four times in my knee! F%$&in PAINFUL!!!! 'You can scream if you like' he says, which made me all the more inclined to grit my teeth, play the macho man and just take it in silence.
Watching him sew my gaping wound up was quite interesting, until he got to the bit where the anaesthetic hadn't fully reached, then it was more pain and I felt like throwing up, joy.
Finally discharged 'healthy and well' and luckily my most excellent friend was there waiting and drove back to the land of Earlsdon - unfortunately it was then so late that he had to drive right back home again! Mission accomplished though, we had a good catch up in err... hospital, I learnt the causes of acute pancreatitis via a text message conversation and I now have plastic thread embedded in my skin... Great!
Ah well at least I had the Mighty Boosh to look forward to afterwards...!
(thought about adding a photo for all of you that would like a more detailed picture... bit graphic though)
