Blog 3 for the P1 workshop
Just to update you on my action points so far:
1. Improving time management:
I have realized that I waste alot of time on facebook and watching TV online so I have decided to stop watching during the week at all and only to watch them on friday night or over the weekend. I am also determined to log on to facebook only once a day at night before going to sleep. In order to help me with this resolution I have disable all my facebook notification that reach me by email so that i am not tempted to go online. I have also decided to set an alarm half an hour before lectures that will indicate to me that I need to start preparing to leave immdediately. Instead of coming back to my room in between lectures I have decided to to stay over the library and this has really helped catch up with my reading and stay up to date with my work. I also attended the A1 workshop on speedy reading to help read faster in order to get through my reading on time. I am now caught up with my economics reading and my world politics reading and only behind on introduction to politics.
Improving networking skills: I was invited to an interview by the warwick development summit and I hope that I am given a chance to participate in it as it would be a really good experience. I also regularly go to MUN meetings and actively participate in them by volunteering to do extra work and also giving input and suggestion as to how the warmun conference should be run. I have also applied for an insight day in PWC and have been offered the opportunity to attend one of the insight days in london and I feel that this would be a good opportunity to get to know people
Improving essays: I have also signed up for a academic workshop on essay writing that is to be held on the 15th and I hope that this will give me adequate preparation for the June exams. I have to submit three more essays over the course of the next few days and I am keeping in mind about the feedback that I got from my seminar: to have a clear thesis stated in the introduction and again in the conclusion and to use strictly academic language.
I have added a new action point which is improving my quantitative skills as I fear that I did terribly in the statistics test held yesterday because I blanked out and I am going to work doubly hard for the second test as well as the june exam.
