    I would suggest that you define your ID key fields as INT UNSIGNED NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT PRIMARY KEY and let MySQL handle the incrementation. There’s no need to do that in the application. I don’t know how big your dataset is going to become, but it’s extremely unlikely that you need anything other than INT for those fields. In UNSIGNED that’s enough for 4.3 billion rows.

    And MEDIUMTEXT are enormous – 223 bytes is about 8 Mb. That’s a lot of text to have in a row…
