Government defeated on religious hatred

Writing about web page http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/4664398.stm

According to the Beeb's news ticker, the government has been defeated over changes to the religious hatred bill currently going through Parliament. That's a second Commons defeat for Blair (although only 288–278 this time).

And according to the BBC, they've just lost another vote by one. Hot damn!

And again according to the Beeb, Blair himself didn't vote in the division they lost by one.

Ruth Kelly on the way out?

Writing about web page http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/4602976.stm

According to the Beeb, Downing Street has said that Ruth Kelly's job is safe in spite of her allowing the employment as a PE teacher of someone who had received a caution for viewing child pornography. This almost certainly means that her days are numbered.
