It's all too emotional…
Wow! A lot has happened this week…
This is my last blog for a while as I'm off on tour tonight with WO and BrassSoc. Should be amazing!! Just doing my ironing and then I'm all packed and ready to go.
Yesterday was an unforgettable day. It was a very long and tiring day, but it was worth it because I got to play and perform in the best concert I've ever been in! Our 40th Anniversary concert drew in crowds of thousends and it was the most perfect evening weather wise that we ever could have hoped for. The evening began with Chorus where we sang our Opera choruses, and then went straight into Wind Orchestra (quick instrument grab!) to play the delights of Venetian Spells, Gaelforce and of course, Disney (yay!). After that a brief break and chance to sit down while Brass, Big band and various filler acts went on. Then came our big moment – the Mystery Time Filler… we did a Stomp! performance useing various instruments such as brooms, bins, water bottles, pint glasses and ladders! All while wearing labcoats and scarfs in our hair (dead sexy) and flat caps for the blokes! It was so scary doing it in front of so many people but it was also brilliant fun!
Finally, after getting chance to watch a bit of Symphony Orch with my parents, it was time for the big Sinatra finale – which was awesome! Over 200 musicians on stage all playing our hearts out! I certainly enjoyed that one. We then all rushed off stage to see the fireworks which were superb – some amazingly big bangs as we all reverted to being five year olds and shouting lots of "ooohs" and "aahs" at the pretty fireworks!
It all got a bit emotional at the end once it was all over though. I ended up sitting in my car for about 30mins with Stu just bawling my eyes out! I guess getting your degree, doing a huge concert and realising you have officially finished University is quite an emotional thing to go through all in one day!
I'm going to miss being a student (although not the work, that was never my strong point!) but I'll miss all the people who are leaving LOTS and LOTS. I've had such an amazing time here and have so many good memories. I'm glad I'm staying in the area – you all have to come and visit me when we eventually find a house!!
Anyway, I better get on with my packing…
I agree – the concert was amazing, and I felt pretty emotional too by the end!
I'm glad you're sticking around. I'll be back and forth quite a bit over the next year, doing random gigs, so I'm sure I'll see you soon.
Take it easy dude, and enjoy tour!
Juicy. Legend.
