Audience Etiquette

I went to the Symphony Orchestra concert last night and was very impressed by the children who came and danced to the Mother Goose suite, and by the excellent playing of the orchestra, in particular the soloists, and also Meng Meng who is a fantastic pianist. I would have enjoyed it a lot more if the audience hadn't been so rude though! There was lots of noise throughout, not necessarily talking, but just being noisy with plastic bags, keys etc and taking flash pictures (this really annoys me when there is clearly an announcement at the beginning saying you should'nt do it) and as well as that there were people walking out half way between movements, which I find particularly rude from the orchestra's point of view – they have worked hard to give a good performance, and if you've bought a ticket the least you can do is stay and watch them!
I don't know why it was so bad today…I guess it's been a long time since I've actually sat as an audience member to a Butterworth Hall concert, perhaps it's always like that, I hope it isn't because it does spoil your enjoyment.

The orchestra were fab though! I hope all the finalists for who that was their last Butterworth concert enjoyed playing – you all sounded fab!

On a less grumpy note…today, although it's going to be busy, is a day I'm hopefully going to enjoy. Highlights: MC BBQ and Figaro!! Now all I need to do is get a map and work out where Lapworth Village hall is (no Beery Dave to show me this time!!)
