Are librarians the most stressed out profession?

Hmn, not sure if I'd agree with the precepts of this report – being a librarian is anything BUT monotonous. In fact a bit of monotony every now and again might make a nice change from the constant, erm, change.
Still, this report has at least one of the Social Science librarians here in the office fuming over its contents – so perhaps there's some truth in it after all…
There seem to be a few law librarians emailing via mailbase lists who are rather ruffled too. (They've been looking at the Times article link.)

I have to say having read the article I can see what they’re getting at, at least from the Librarian sample. Sure we hate being recognised as people who “hang around book stacks”, which adds a certain career stress, and sure we have skills a plenty and very little recognition. After all, we’re SUPPOSED to be on a parity with academics in HE – but academics have a career structure that allows them to progress from lecturer, through reader up to professorship whilst still effectively in the same post. Librarians (like many career paths it must be acknowledged) have to apply for new jobs!
But on a daily basis – no way is being a librarian (heck even a public librarian) as stressful as being a cop, fireman, doctor etc…
