### Lesson Outline – Linear Equations

Group 2

Lesson Outline - Linear Equations

**Aim**: to understand all aspects of straight line graphs

**Lesson Objective**: to be able to plot straight line graphs for given equations (by using table of values)

**Prior Vocabulary**: x-axis, y-axis, co-ordinates, table of values, x-value, y-value

**New Vocabulary**: intercept, x-intercept, y-intercept, equation of a line

**Possible misconceptions**: all graphs go upwards from left to right,

all graphs are in the +ve x/ +ve y quadrant, all graphs are straight,

all graphs start at/go through (0,0), straight line graphs are finite

**Key Questions**: What do you already know about straight line graphs?

If I tell you the value of x, how will you work out what the value of y is?
